Laura Kavanagh

Laura is a massage and movement therapist who brings a unique mix of knowledge and experience to the practice of physical therapy. She utilises both hands on massage and specialised soft tissue treatments as well as several modalities of exercise and movement based therapies.

With a diploma in Remedial Massage, an Advanced Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy, and an intuitive touch, Laura has a wealth of experience in over 12 years full time practice as a soft tissue therapist.

Originally practising in Canberra, Laura moved to Sydney 6 years ago and has since then pursued studies relating to her passionate belief in the role that movement plays in optimal health and vitality. She initially earned a Diploma as a Pilates Instructor, but has gone on with further studies to become an accredited OOV practitioner, a Be Activated practitioner, and is one of only 4 people in Australia as a fully qualified JEMS practitioner.

This breadth of training and experience in movement and the blocks and barriers to pain free movement, together with her extensive experience in hands on therapy allow Laura to treat a wide variety of physical conditions characterised by pain or limitation of movement. Treatment sessions are one on one and Laura uses both hands on massage and soft tissue therapy together with exercise, balance and movement techniques as appropriate for the needs of the patient. Many patients who have chronic musculoskeletal issues and have previously seen other practitioners are most grateful to learn new insights and see new progress in their condition under Laura’s care.

Laura brings a very warm, open and empathetic approach to positively engage and motivate people in their journey to a restored sense of physical wellbeing and increased pain free movement. She brings to the discipline of physical therapy a personal commitment to her own health and fitness, a devotion to ongoing study and keeping at the cutting edge of research of effective therapy.
